Lexington Select Sale set for Oct. 3-7

Principals of the Lexington Selected Sales Co. have announced dates for the 2011 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, with changes in starting times for its 2011 renewal.

The sale will be conducted five consecutive days, from Monday, Oct. 3 through Friday, Oct. 7 at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion on Newtown Pike in Lexington. The first three sessions will be held during the evenings, while the Thursday and Friday sessions get underway during daylight hours.

As always, the sale will coincide with the heart of The Red Mile's annual Grand Circuit meet, and the daytime-nighttime shift has been made to accommodate the track's racing schedule, according to sale co-manager Geoffrey Stein. The auction begins the Monday following the 119th Kentucky Futurity, with that Triple Crown event slated for Sunday, Oct. 2.

"Besides our strong core of regular consignors, we're glad to welcome back Hanover and Blue Chip Farms to this year's sale. And we're also pleased to have added Walnut Hall Ltd. to those who'll be selling with us this fall," Stein said.

The Lexington Selected Sale, formed in 2005 by Tattersalls and Kentucky Standardbred, has been the industry's leading auction by yearling average since its inception.

Those who wish to consign yearlings to the sale are asked to call the company's Kentucky (859-255-8431) or New York (914-773-7777) office, or email info@lexingtonselected.com. Entries will close April 1. (Lexington Select Sale)
