The Red Mile to offer Oaks and Derby Drive-Thru Wagering

Partnering with The Red Mile, Keeneland will offer drive-thru wagering on Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby day at Red Mile Racetrack, in addition to its home site at Keeneland.

"The demand at Keeneland for drive-thru wagering on Oaks and Derby Days has grown tremendously in recent years, prompting us to seek an auxiliary site to help relieve traffic congestion and accommodate more customers in a more timely manner," Chief Operating Officer Vince Gabbert said.

Keeneland first offered drive-thru wagering on the Kentucky Derby in 1997, making it the first track in the country to provide the convenience. Drive-thru wagering on Keeneland racing and year-round simulcasting began in 1998.

Keeneland now offers a total of 12 drive-thru betting stations on Oaks/Derby weekend, handling nearly $500,000 in wagering. Drive-thru wagering accommodates nearly 5,000 vehicles. The Red Mile auxiliary location will add eight temporary drive-thru wagering booths.

Both locations will open at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and will operate through the feature race each day. Advanced wagering will be available on the Derby on May 6th.

Winning tickets may be cashed at either location. Keeneland will be open on Sunday, May 8, to cash winning tickets-beginning at 8 a.m. at the drive-thru betting stations and at 12:30 p.m. at the Grandstand.
